hello professor Xin Li
I’m reading your weblog and your home page and also i downloaded all of your lecture’s Slides.
I saw you are very expert in Image processing.
I have some question :
1- Image feature extraction technique:
how can we classify all of the Image feature extraction techniques into a tree ?
what will be the major categories of image features (main branches of this tree)?
in my opinion the best major categories could be like : 1- spatial domain Feature extraction 2- Frequency domain feature extraction! is it correct?
2- how we can put the following features extraction methods in this classification:
* PCA principle component
* DCT discrete cosine transform
* FFT fast fourier transform
* DWT discret wave let transform
* statistical model ( variance , covariance , … )
* regression model
* MSE mean square error
* SSIM Structural similarity
* PSNR
* Frequency domain image feature extraction
* spatial domain image feature extraction
* wavelet – based image feature extraction
* texture metrics
* linear transform
* un-linear transform
3- how can i find some most important applications of these feature extraction techniques in image processing?
I’m some confused with these many feature extraction technique!
could you please help me to classify and categorize these feature extraction methods?
actually , I’m working in image forensic area, specially ‘Fuzzy Image Forgery detection’,
and i need a robust image feature extraction method. but these days i’m scrutinizing the literature of the feature extraction techniques.

Hello Sir,
I saw your blog and very nice but sir i have some questions as follow:
1. can you please tell me the physical significance of fourier Transform , DTFT and DFT also or application of FT , DTFT and DFT in Real World.
2. Why we use FT, DFT and DTFT ?
3. Can you please tell me the difference Among DFT, DTFT and FT ?
